Hi, I’m Dereckulous.

I’m a poet, podcaster, and professional overthinker who grew up learning survival from life’s less glamorous side. These days, I create the kind of work I wish I had when I was younger. The words that say, you’re seen, you’re valid, and you’re not alone in this.

My poetry is surreal and sensory, full of contrasts like heavy and light, dark and bright, written to make you feel something you cannot quite shake off. My podcast, Bearly Functional, is the place where those same instincts spill into stories, queer joy, and the occasional bout of emotional chaos. Both are separate but related, like cousins who share the same dark sense of humor at family gatherings.

I’m openly gay, ADHD, absurdly funny (sometimes at my own expense), and my taste in music goes from Tina Turner to Korn without warning, with a couple country curveballs. Yes, “Fancy” by Reba is in the mix. I do not collect acquaintances. I keep a few close friends who actually show up when the chips are down.

If you remember anything about me, I hope it is this. I am kind, I am warm, I am weird in the best possible ways, and I believe in the healing power of art, even if that art sometimes wears a crooked grin.
